I’m a writer and creative with 20 years’ experience, both in agencies and charities. I’ve worked for some of the UK’s best-known charities, from Cancer Research to Comic Relief. And best-loved brands, from Rolls Royce to Pot Noodle. Take a look at some of my work.

Dave Mance writer

I write words to win hearts and minds to your cause.

From a big PR idea, to a carefully thought-through and optimised supporter journey, it depends on the problem you want to solve. And it starts with a chat.

  • Lead generation

Writing and testing ads. Creating and optimising marketing automations that turn leads into donors.

  • Fundraising

Direct mail, web and email that demonstrates impact and inspires generosity.

  • Digital advocacy

Mobilising supporters as a vital part of your winning advocacy strategy.

  • Story gathering

Starting with finding the right stories to tell, then planning and interviewing, through to writing and framing messaging.

Bio

I started out as a direct marketing writer, learning from some of the best how to get someone to fill out the coupon/buy the thing.

I worked for 15 years with some amazing agencies, from Partners Andrews Aldridge and Wunderman, to charity specialists like The Good Agency. And dream clients – for example, as Creative Group Head at HeyHuman I oversaw all digital content on brands like PG tips, Dove and Pot Noodle.

I then spent six years as Head of Campaigns at a human rights organisation. This gave me a love of analytics (no, really), testing, and testing again. It also gave me a deeper understanding of the inner workings of a charity, and how to truly collaborate across departments.

How I like to work

For me, it all starts with asking questions and listening well. Once I understand the problem you want to solve, I can make sure you end up with work that connects with your audience and meets those objectives.

Hopefully we can also enjoy our work. I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built and I’m happy to be considered a vital part of an organisation’s team.
